In June 2023, Carolina Constantini spent a few days paying visits to the sites of gynecologist Dr. Albertina Duarte Takiuti’s work, the same brilliant woman who Double Click interviewed for the “Teenage Pregnancy” topic. During this time, she got to know the work done at the Casa do Adolescente (“House of the Adolescent”). With several international awards, it provides multidisciplinary care through doctors, dentists, speech therapists, social workers, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and teachers. There are also workshops, conversations, and group therapies for young people to express their feelings and receive specialized guidance – Double Click was marveled at what is done there everyday. Carolina had the chance to partake in one of the group therapy sessions, and quickly discovered that like in Sobral’s education, all of the people in that building are working towards the well being of every teenager that walks through the door, regardless of the reason for their being there.
